The NIB Newcastle Knights NRLW team have locked in a spot in the NRL Telstra Women’s Premiership Grand Final after defeating the St George Illawarra Dragons 30 – 6 in the Semi- Final at Suncorp Stadium last weekend.
Adding the final dagger to the hearts of the Dragons players and fans alike, our very own Kiana scored the Knights final try which sealed the match.
With both the Knights and Parramatta failing to make the finals last season, this season a new champion is set to be crowned. This weekend the Knights will line up against the Parramatta Eels in the NRLW Grand Final in front of a sold out crowd at Accor Stadium. Their game will be part of a bumper Grand Final Day which will see the mens Parramatta Eels and Penrith Panthers play in the NRL big dance shortly after.
Not only will there be rivalry on the field, but amongst the CK Athletic Coaches with Kiana facing off against Parramatta Eels Halfback Tayla Preston. “I can’t wait for Sunday! Super excited to be able to come up against Tayla, she’s had an unreal season but hopefully we can spoil her fun”.
The Knights will go into the match as favourites despite the Eels knocking off the reining champions the Roosters in the semi-finals. Tayla has belief in not only herself but her team ahead of the big dance, “Its so exciting to have made the NRLW Grand Final in my first year in the game… Our Parra team has really focused on believing in not only ourselves but our teammates, it takes a whole squad of 24 players to get to where we are”. “It will be made that extra bit exciting coming up against Kiana in the GF as well! Hopefully it will be me with the bragging rights at CK sessions”.
