About Us

Founders Corban Baxter and Kiana Takairangi are best friends with a mutual love for sport and coaching who have come together to create CK Athletic Development. Combining their experience and knowledge they aim to help inspire, guide and support their athletes in reaching their goals, whilst also continuing their own journeys as professional athletes.

Corban Baxter

Corban was born in New Zealand and is of Maori heritage. She moved to Australia with her family at the age of 3 and was brought up in the Sutherland Shire. Being the only girl to 4 brothers who all loved Rugby League/Union, Corban was destined to become involved in the sport too. She grew up playing many different sports including Netball, Touch Football, Oztag, Athletics & American Football but after having her son Carter she discovered and fell in love with Women’s Rugby League. Corban has since represented many teams throughout her playing career, a few highlights being becoming the World Cup Champions with the Australian Jillaroos in 2017 and captaining the Sydney Roosters NRLW team to its first ever Premiership in the 2021 season.

With a passion for all things health and fitness, Corban studied to become a fitness trainer which lead her down her coaching path to become a Speed, Agility and Rugby League coach. Whilst becoming involved in local NRL programs, Corban realised the need for more specific coaching and programs for young girls who wished to play and learn about Rugby League. This ignited her passion in coaching and mentoring young girls and boys who have ambitions to learn and improve their footy skills and overall athletic ability.

Her own passion for sport came through 11 years of field Hockey, Oztag, Touch Football, Athletics and any sport available to get out of the classroom at School.

After High School, Kiana began a career in Personal Training before moving to the United States for a 3 year stint of Stewardessing and Personal Training on Super Yachts, and two seasons of American Football in Los Angeles.

What Our Clients Say

My girls started with CK Athletic Development at a school holiday footy clinic. They loved the clinic and wanted more. We were so happy to know they were then launching a weekly speed & agility program. My 3 daughters now all love training with CK Athletic and feel so lucky to have Corban and Kiana teaching our girls.
– Kelly

An awesome atmosphere which breeds confidence and a greater skill set. I have seen my children start the footy season shy and reserved and after their CK sessions grow into more confident and more skilled players with a great love for the game
